About Kevin and KaiaWhat started out as a hobby, consisting of a camera and some postcards, has now evolved into a fun, entrepreneurial journey between a father and his daughter. Kevin and Kaia work together to create postcards, stickers, and greeting cards. They both enjoy art and are learning valuable lessons about creativity, design, marketing, teamwork, and starting a business.
Startup
In 2017, Kevin encouraged his 12-year-old daughter, Kaia, to start her entrepreneurial journey by creating postcards to sell at the first annual Kids' Pop-Up Market in Brookings, South Dakota. The goal was to create postcards of iconic locations in Brookings. Encouraging others to connect with people they care about by sending postcards, and promoting the Brookings community, seemed like a worthwhile endeavor. Additionally, it gave Kaia a creative outlet and pushed her to create designs she was proud to share with the public. Now
Thanks to the encouragement and support from family, friends, and local businesses, Kevin and Kaia have continued to create postcards and have expanded their creations to stickers and greeting cards as well. Together they brainstorm ideas and observe the world around them to look for inspiration. Kevin likes to draw. Kaia likes to paint, color, and take photos. It's a team effort and a fun journey.
